Are you a woman in your 40s or beyond, juggling your health, weight, and career ambitions?

I get it. I've been there.

In fact, I spent decades struggling with my own health and weight, and I was too embarrassed to share my journey with others. As an ambitious woman climbing the corporate ladder, and later as an entrepreneur building my own business, talking about weight loss and health challenges in a professional environment felt awkward. Who wants to share their struggles when they're trying to impress clients, bosses, and colleagues?

And yet... I realized that I was not alone. And the thing is that in my 40s, I reached a breaking point when I was DONE!!

DONE feeling lousy. DONE feeling tired. DONE trying to fade into the background. DONE feeling like I was hiding from my potential.

“I was DONE living small, and feeling that how I showed up in life was a shadow of what I know I could be. ”

And also, I was done feeling embarrased and akward and letting the fear of judgment or how other people saw me or talked about me or what they assumed about me affect me. People will assume and think what they want anyway, so let them! What I knew was that I was DONE holding myself back by my fears, my embarrassment or feeling awkward. Because... as it turns out, I realized that I was not alone in this quietly draining and exhausting struggle!!

Over the years, I've been slimmer and I've been curvier. I've been an athlete plagued with injuries, a workaholic who sacrificed my health for career, and somebody who just didn't prioritize my health. I've done Weight Watchers, meal replacement shakes, calorie tracking, extreme fitness regimens, been vegan and vegetarian for years, and everything in between. It was all exhausting. Dispiriting. Unsustainable. And embarrassing every time I didn't make progress. Or I did make progress and then undid all the progress because I was chasing a quick fix that never lasted!

And so... in mid-life, I WAS DONE.

One step at a time, one day at a time, I started my transformation. Through nearly three years of trial and error, I lost more than 100 pounds naturally in my 40s during perimenopause. No pills, procedures, or injections. Just real-life, sustainable strategies that work. This was not during a time when there was nothing else going on in my life. In fact, these were some of the most tumultuous and difficult years I've had personally and professionally!! But that somehow didn't stand in the way of my health transformation. In fact that fuelled it even further!! And the reality was that the hardest part of me losing 100+ pounds naturally with no calorie counting, extremes or injections / pills wasn't building the new me... It was letting go of the old me.

But here's the thing I learned and why I'm sharing this with you today on a platform like Linked in no less - a platform that is squarely focused on the professional side of life! What I learned is that my health transformation was not just about weight loss. And it was not just about me!!

This is about empowering women to take control of their health and reclaim the vitality and confidence they deserve, so they can show up as their best selves in their personal lives, their businesses, and careers.

For years, I believed I had to hide my struggles. I was scared of judgment from my colleagues, from my clients, from others who might think less of me. I didn't want to be seen as less capable or less ambitious because of my weight. Even posting this on a platform like LinkedIn is scary. I've had to push through my own emotions and hesitancy to share this message.

But the truth is, health is tied to everything. When you feel great in your body, you bring more energy, confidence, and focus into every area of your life, and that includes your career and business.

The more I look around, the more I see so many of us struggling with the same challenges. When people I didn't even know started asking me what my "magic" was to help me lose 100+ pounds in midlife, not from a place of judgment but because they were genuinely struggling and looking for real-life solutions, I knew I had to share what I've learned more widely.

Because at the end of the day, this isn't about me. It's about women who have had the struggles I've had and who, as a result, have felt like they're not enough, like they're playing small in their lives, careers, ambitions, and businesses. And that is not okay.

The thread that connects everything

Throughout my career across various industries, one consistent theme has been empowerment. Empowerment of people in less developed countries and emerging economies. Empowerment of people without a voice (which is often women). Empowerment of people chasing a dream or lifestyle change. And now, it has brought me full circle to this mission.

To empower women to say yes to their bodies and their health:

NOT because they want to look a certain way for somebody else's approval.

NOT because they're punishing themselves and hating themselves toward achieving the perfect body (which, by the way, simply doesn't exist).

NOT because somebody told them they need to lose weight to achieve their ambitious goals.

BUT because they want to achieve a body that feels good. A body that brings them the confidence, vitality, and joy to truly be themselves. To carry themselves with the confidence and grace they deserve. To have the renewed spark to speak up in the rooms, to fight for what they deserve, to simply take up space. To have the stamina to build the businesses of their dreams, to achieve their ambitions at work and in life. To create a true health foundation that helps them not only achieve their goals but enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room

We talk about mental health in the corporate and professional world now. Great! That's a huge leap forward. And yet physical health, which is so fundamentally tied to mental health (I would argue they're one and the same), rarely gets mentioned because it's... well... delicate. Embarrassing. Complicated. Awkward.

I GET IT!

But here's the reality: people WILL judge you once you make your health a priority. They'll make snide comments. They'll assume things. They might even laugh behind your back.

BUT SO WHAT? LET THEM!

At this stage in life, either you have people who will applaud you, be proud of you, cheer you on (publicly or privately), OR you'll have people who judge you, are perhaps jealous of your results, feel called out by you. Those people have no space in your life, and it's part of your empowerment to keep them at arm's length.

Because here's the thing: Only we know how we feel inside. Only we know the struggles and frustrations. And only we know the fire that burns inside us.

At some point, we need to push through that awkwardness and embarrassment to learn and incorporate the real-life strategies to not only lose weight but improve our health, giving us bodies that not only look good but feel amazing. Bodies that build our confidence and vitality. Bodies that support our ambitions not only for our careers and businesses and professional lives but for our personal lives. For ALL of us.

Why I'm different

I'm not just another 20-year-old Instagram influencer. I'm not a scientist who can tell you the nutritional data on a piece of chicken but perhaps cannot fully relate to your emotional struggles with weight loss because they've never been there. I'm also not somebody who's always been slim and healthy. I've had years where I've been healthy and years (maybe even decades) where I've lost myself.

I've had the corporate job. I've been self-employed. I understand the pressure to perform, the challenge of finding time for health when you're juggling career ambitions, whether you're working in the corporate world, managing a business, or balancing both. I get it.

But I'm also not somebody who hasn't found the strategies that work and gotten the results for myself and other women. I've been there. And I'm now on a mission of empowerment.

Through Fab Fit Forty Plus, I'm building a community of women who want to lose weight naturally and sustainably, gain confidence, and build the kind of body that feels amazing and supports their goals. Because I also know that when you prioritize your health, it empowers you to show up stronger, more confident, and more energized for everything you want to achieve.
